Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR)

The Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) was established in 2011 to train some of the best of tomorrow’s Science & Technology leaders through a combination of innovative and novel curricula, pedagogy and evaluation. As an Institution of National Importance, AcSIR focuses on imparting instruction and providing research opportunities in such areas that are not routinely taught in regular academic universities in India.

AcSIR was set up on a Hub and the Spokes’ model where hub is responsible for centralized administrative functions. The spokes are located in the 37 laboratories and 6 units of CSIR are spread across India. These act as actual campuses for different subjects or areas depending on their respective specializations. Currently, there are 3082 Ph.D, 95 Integrated M.Tech-Ph.D (IMP), 20 Integrated M.Sc-Ph.D and 06 PG Diploma in ‘Patinformatics’ students, respectively.

The mission of the Academy is to create highest quality personnel with cross- disciplinary knowledge, aiming to provide leaders in the field of science and technology.

It is well known that the ability to carry out quality research and generate knowledge is one of the distinguished features of excellent Research institutions. The Academic Programmes in AcSIR are quite vibrant and full of knowledge.

Academic Programs in AcSIR

PhD in Engineering

(i) A Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology following a four-year engineering/technology or 4/5 year science degree; or an integrated minimum-5-year M Tech degree; or equivalent.

Integrated Dual-Degree PhD (IDDP) Program in Engineering

(i) A 4-year undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science (such as BE/BTech/BS), or a five year degree in Science (such as MSc), or equivalent.

PhD (Sciences)

Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology, Medicine or Master’s degree in Science with a keen sense of scientific enquiry for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical & Information Sciences leading to a Ph.D. degree.

M.Tech

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology following a four-year engineering/technology or 4/5 year science degree or equivalent degree of not less than four years’ duration is required for MTech.
