Alagappa University

Alagappa University founded by educationist Dr. RM. Alagappa Chettiar was formed by a Special Act of the Government of Tamil Nadu in May 1985 is located in Karaikudi in Tamil Nadu. The aim of the University is to foster research, development and dissemination of knowledge in various branches of learning. 

The University has 39 Departments, 9 Centres and 2 Constituent Colleges on its campus. 40 Affiliated Colleges located in the districts of Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram are part of the University.
The University has 1.14 lakh students under its roll and offers courses through Regular, Week-end, Distance and Collaborative modes. 

The University has International Collaborations with Universities / Institutions of Higher Learning in countries like China, Malaysia, West Indies, U.S.A. and South Korea. Innovative programmes  are designed and offered at the University for the foreign students.
