Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha Tamil Nadu

Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha was established in 1918 by Mahatma Gandhi with the sole aim of propagating Hindi in southern states. The first Pracharak was none other than Devadoss Gandhi son of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhiji remained the President till his death. It became an independent organisation in 1927

‘Hindi Prachar’ was a movement that emerged as part of Freedom Movement and the leaders who led the nation to 'FREE INDIA' felt the necessity of making a single Indian Language the National Language, and through that language unify the people and thereby intensify National Integration.

Main Functions of Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha

Tamilnadu Sabha conducts Hindi exams twice a year. Higher exams are conducted by Chennai Central Sabha. There are 350 examinations centers. Prathmic to Praveshika are conducted by Tamilnadu Sabha. Visavath, Pravin, Nisthath, Hindi typewriting, Hindi shorthand are conducted by Chennai Sabha. In higher exams regional languages like Tamil, Telungu, Kannadam, Malayalam are taught compulsory.

In Tamilnadu Hindi typewriting Vidyalayas are functioning in 11 centers and 8 centres receive central government aid. Necessary text books and minimum fees are taken from the students to conduct the classes.

On behalf of TamilNadu Sabha, a bilingual Hindi and Tamil Magazine is published. 7000 magazines are printed every month. Necessary books, exam answer sheets, question papers and Hindi magazine for the Sabha are printed in the press.
