Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University
Established in 2004, the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University is one of its kind in India. It exclusively caters to higher education and research in Physical Education and Sports. Programs started being introduced in the University from 5th August 2005.
At present the University has three Faculties, five Departments and ten affiliated Colleges. Further the University now offers select Physical Education and Allied Courses, through collaborative programme and Distance Education stream also.

Mission of Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University
- To create an ideal academic environment for Learning, Scholarship, Professionalism, and Collaboration that fosters Excellence in active student learning and professional growth.
- To design and introduce innovative, integrated, inter-disciplinary curriculum in Physical Education and various sports and games and allied areas and provide Leadership to the Profession.
- To offer unique graduate, Post-graduate and research Programmes in Physical Education, Sports and allied fields.
- To produce competent health conscious Physical Education teachers at various levels, who will be fully equipped to impart instruction in Physical Education and undertake physical activity programmes for children and youth.
- To develop High-Tech research facilities and contribute to the body to knowledge through scholarly work and publications, and disseminate the findings to the professionals, faculty and students.
- To facilities the application of research finding to refine and sharpen the coaching and training techniques in Physical Education and Sports.
- To closely collaborate and coordinate with the State and National bodies in Physical Education and Sports, in matters of common interest and concern.
- To actively design programme for the promotion and development of fitness and health concept among the students, faculty and the community around so as to mould them into physically fit and emotionally matured citizens.

Admission in Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University
- Candidates can obtain the Application Form in 3 ways:
- Candidates can obtain it in person from any of the Study Centres of the Directorate of Distance Education, TNPESU.
- Candidates can obtain it by post from the University.
- Candidates can download it from the university website.
- After receiving the Application form, candidate must fill in with the necessary details in BLOCK letters with your own handwriting, and affix a passport size photograph. Please tick wherever necessary.
University Central Library
The University Central Library is the most important part of the University housing Text Books, Reference Books, Journals/Magazines, Theses/Dissertations, Journals Back Volumes, Reports, Standards, CD-ROMs, etc. At present this library holds nearly 2900 books which fulfills the day to day information requirements of Faculties, Research Scholars, and Students.All the resources are available in the Library database members can access the Library resources through this software. Reference services namely guiding the members in locating the specific documents and instructing them in accessing the electronic resources through Internet are practiced in the University Library.
