Veterinary Education in Tamil Nadu

The prospect of finding a job in the field of Veterinary science has led to the opening of many veterinary colleges in Tamil Nadu. Most of these colleges are affiliated to Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) located in Chennai. Owing to the job prospects in this field of study many students in Tamil Nadu are opting for undergraduate level veterinary courses. TANUVAS also offers postgraduate level courses in various branches of veterinary and animal sciences. Students who have passed 10 2 with Science can opt for Undergraduate Degree Programmes in veterinary sciences.

Candidates are selected on the basis of their marks in All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) conducted every year by Veterinary Council of India in the month of May. Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) also conducts entrance examination for admission in various UG and PG courses.
